Jay Mariotti volunteered to be kicked out of the BBWAA. I’ll take his spot if I get the “get-into-every-baseball-game-free” pass.
Apparently Aroldis Chapman is close to a deal somewhere. Doesn’t sound like it’s with the Mets or Yanks.

I love Mariotti’s rationale: only some guys are allowed to go in on the first ballot, even if he believes that they are HoFers. However, if you don’t get in quickly enough, you clearly are not a HoFer, unless you are Jim Rice.
All that, and he gets to appear regularly on ESPN’s “Sports Shouting.” Not bad for a dope.
