Items of note

This plan for proposed experiments at a National Baseball Laboratory is cool, and I have an addition: a team full of cloned Mark McGwires.

Here’s a joint review I wrote with Zoe Rice of the Lost season premiere at the Perpetual Post. Some of the language is NSFW.

I know a lot of smart Knicks fans who will defend Donnie Walsh for the Jordan Hill pick, but man, it sure seems like they missed a good one in Brandon Jennings, especially considering his oft-awesome hair.

This is all the excuse I need to post this:

  1. I agree that now, in hindsight it looks as though Jenning would have been the better pick for the Knicks, but if I’m going to have reason to kill Donnie Walsh for this move, I would have needed to see these ‘experts’ claiming Jennings to be the better pick on Draft day, not halfway through the season. Most of the experts on draft day concluded Hill to be a solid pick for the Knicks in that spot.

I’m sure if Walsh had a crystal ball and was privy to how the fist half of the would turn out (as the experts are now when they write about hindsight), I think Walsh would probably have picked Jennings too.

Lets also not forget that there were what 10 other teams that passed on Jennings too. The media would have you think the Knicks were the only team that missed the boat.

    • But isn’t it Walsh’s job to determine these things? Sure, it may be hindsight, but I don’t think a “The media is just as dumb as I am” is a great defense of the job he’s done.

Walsh has a lot of powerful media friends in this town and that’s really helped him.

And sure, some other teams “missed” on Jennings, but most of them got real nice players. And considering the Knicks huge need at the point, the D’Antoni-Jennings Italian League connections, the Knicks need to a dynamic young star, I think it’s fair to get on them for missing him.
