Toby Hyde does a whole lot of number crunching to conclude what he already knew about Jenrry Mejia’s Spring Training performance: It’s a tiny sample, and not enough of one to put him in a big-league relief role.

Courtesy of Shamik, here’s another reason to dislike Philadelphia. Also, how is this the first time I’ve heard Philly’s mayor is named Nutter?

At the risk of revealing too much about my own personal politics, I don’t feel Prince should have to pay taxes. I think we should all pay taxes to Prince, and Prince should govern the land in a benevolent, funky dictatorship.

  1. Great job by Toby Hyde as usual, and it was good to hear Keith Law’s opinion on the Mejia subject as well.

After watching yesterdays’ game last night, its pretty evident that Niese should get the 5th starter job. He looks ready to contribute on the big league level, and he has the most upside of all the contenders by far. His velocity was outstanding (92-94 with the same gun that was getting Johan at 89-90) last night, and he might be at that point of his career where his fastball picks up a mph or two. A 92 mph plus fastball from a big lefty with a great curve and a decent cutter could be the makings of a really solid starting pitcher. I would not be shocked if he developed into a Barry Zito like pitcher.

I knew i liked your taste for some reason, Ted, and it couldn’t have been your taste in ball clubs.
Just one thing I don’t get: how did the Chaska Herald publish his name: was it his unpronounceable symbol? If not, how do they know they got the right guy?
