Calcaterra: Contract disqualification a P.R. move

He’s a lawyer, so he’d know better than me. I’ve never actually heard of a player’s contract being disqualified — at least not in those terms — before so I figured it was John Ricco pulling out some little-known MLB contract stuff he knew about from his time in the league office, but it does sound a bit too good to be true. Either way, obviously the union’s going to fight the hell out of it.

  1. Does it matter if it’s a P.R. move by the Mets? The point is they seem to be getting the hint that they have to start changing the way they do business. They have to prove to the fan base that ineptitude will no longer be acceptable behavior by the higher chain of command. Obviously they have a long way to go to do that, but by taking this stance with Rodriguez maybe they’re starting to see what’s wrong with the way this team has been run the last 4 years.
