Metsimistic: Lucas Duda’s Encouraging Stats

Chris McShane is doing a nice job at Metsimistic. I’m excited when I see his updates on my Google Reader and I urge you to check the site out. His graph work is good but he’s got a long way to go to match this epic masterpiece.

  1. The big difference, of course, is that Utley is a plus defender and a rare power threat at a premium defensive position. Duda is by all accounts not much better than Chris Carter in a corner outfield spot. That said, I will be excited to see what the kid can do and will be rooting for him to succeed. Let’s go Duda!

  2. The epic masterpiece you linked is nice, but it would be better if it compared Frenchy to someone who sucks to highlight how bad his results are. Most people will look awful compared to El Hombre.

Of course, at this point it really would just be unnecessarily piling on a guy who’s already been traded out of town.

    • I think, but can’t say for sure, the graph is in reference to Steve Popper’s hilarious tweet that “Someday [Francoeur’s] going to have, not a Pujols year, but a good year. Arm is a weapon, add a 20-HR year and pretty good player.”

Thanks for clarifying that it won’t be a Pujols year, Steve.

Someday, one of my posts is going to be, not Hemingway well-written, but really well-written.
