I work in the music publishing business (right around the SNY offices in midtown actually Ted). This is pretty funny. 5% of the publishing, even for a song performed by someone as big as Justin Bieber will probably only net Rollins like 2500-5000 a year if that. If you’re going to get into the publishing acquisition business like that you need to buy up 100’s of copyrights. I’d be interested to know how he acquired even his 5%, it’s not as easy as walking into the copyright store and buying someone’s interest in a song. He has to be working with someone who owes a favor and has some pull with whatever company initially had to publishing rights, honestly probably Usher. Is there a known Usher/Jimmy Rollins love connection. That would be awesome since I have hated both of them for a very long time.
