They’re all gonna laugh at you

I missed the original viral video, but if I hadn’t I’d be even happier that I laughed now that I know the woman has no sense of humor about herself. Honestly, lady: The security guards obviously knew you were OK because you popped right up and walked away.

Look, every now and then we all fall down. But unless you’re seriously injured, the best way to play it is to own it. Yeah, I wiped out, I think it’s funny too, now let’s all have a chuckle and continue with our days.

Hat tip to James K. for the link.

Why Rex Ryan is awesome, part five million

I didn’t out-coach Belichick. There’s no way. Our players out-played their players. That’s really what it came down to. There was nothing schematically I did to win that game. Our guys were prepared to play and that’s my job. But to say that I out-coached Belichick, I would not agree with that. I think it’s almost a joke. I don’t think anybody out-coaches Belichick.

Rex Ryan.

There’s a ton of hubbub about Ryan’s bravado, and then there’s this. The guy says all week that the game is about him versus Bill Belichick. Then he very clearly out-coaches Belichick. Then he deflects the praise toward his players.

Shoulder the pressure, deflect the praise. Sure, he’s doing it all with awesomely brash fatman bombast, but it seems less like bravado and more like Media Relations for Coaches 101 to me. Again, I’m not sure any of it matters, but it’s precisely the opposite of Jerry Manuel’s approach. Whether it’s calculated or not, it has got to be at least part of the reason Ryan’s players seem to love playing for him.

Let’s go eat a goddamn snack.

Anyone watch Onion SportsDome?

I missed the premiere of Onion SportsDome on Comedy Central last night. Did you? I’m a little leery — as I always am whenever anyone tries to roll out a satirical sports show — but it’s mostly because I’m massively jealous of everyone involved and want very badly to have a similar show of my own. In college, I produced and hosted a campus TV show just like it, only far less professional and far more sophomoric.

I know that some of the upcoming episodes will feature former Nooner host and friend of TedQuarters Brittany Umar, which is awesome for all parties involved. And from the clips they’ve got posted online it looks reasonably promising.

This guy is awesome at Wiffleball

Via the Score. Though this guy puts me to shame, I used to be a pretty dominant Wiffleball pitcher myself, though I haven’t played in years. I grew up playing against my brother, who I’m almost certain studied physics at MIT just so he could figure out ways to make Wiffleballs do cool things.

In my freshman year of college I played intramural Wiffleball and we played with a rule that if you hit the chair behind home plate and the batter didn’t swing it was an automatic strikeout. I once struck out the side on three pitches. Highlight of my athletic career. Also, most people on my floor didn’t appreciate that our Wiffleball team held practices in the study lounge.

Now, this

I may or may not be traveling for work tomorrow, which I will explain if and when it’s confirmed. The details are still murky and I’m trying to figure them out, but it’s making me extremely busy. So for now, enjoy Fishbone, and one of music’s most awesome bass parts:
