Chris Carter is not at all shruggy. He is rabidly committed to self-improvement. Carter did not know the Mets lineup this afternoon, a few minutes after the clubhouse opened. He asked me for it, and I handed him my Blackberry.
“Oh man,” Carter said, upon seeing that he was not starting. He quickly brightened. “I’ll get better today,” he said, before walking away. “I’ll be better tomorrow. Get better every day.”
He was serious.

I’ve got nothing.
How great would it be if Carter was actually crazy? Like bonafide nuts? So much so that other players were kind of afraid of him, the coaches didnt really want to take him out of the game. But he actually produced. Nothing special, but was a solid contributor. That would be waaay more of an upgrade over the dregs the Mets are currently dragging out onto the field on a nightly basis.
Why do I get the feeling the Chris Carter story is either going to end with a championship parade or a murder-suicide?
I LOL’d.
