I had a few more items I wanted to get to today but everything else I had to do took longer than I expected. For now, please enjoy this oddly mesmerizing video of Michael Winslow reciting the history of the typewriter:
History of the typewriter recited by Michael Winslow from SansGil—Gil Cocker on Vimeo.
The video didn’t load.
In lieu of it, I will tell you briefly about the time I saw Michael Winslow performing stand-up at my friend’s college in 1997. The act was mostly his bevy of imitations, which was fine, and the occasional “joke.” The one that I remember was him talking about the hotel where he was staying: “They call it ‘Ramada’ but it should be ‘RAM-ah-dah.’ Why? Because with their prices, they RAM-ah-dah you in the behind!”
Seriously. Worst stand-up joke I ever heard.
on an un-related note… Ted, World Cup? You watching?
I’ve caught some of it here and there, but not much. I talked about it here a little: Soccer’s not my thing.
Winslow left out the “dinging” sound the typewriter makes when it is time to “return”. What gives!
