Yeah, Genius Joe Beningo, who called David Wright a “soft player” just a week ago, and who thinks Beltran is just going to ruin the Mets’ chemistry when he returns. Because, of course, chemistry is so much more important than things like hitting, fielding, running, etc..
He is a dope. I agree with the comments below, him and Roberts are basically unlistenable. When they fill in for Mike I realize that Mike isn’t so bad.
About 2 weeks ago, him and Evan had a ‘hypothetical’ in which Beltran was being compared to Pagan. Evan posed the question that if Carlos Beltran had never come to the Mets, and was say right now in Houston instead, and available in a trade, would Joe trade Pagan straight up for him. Even prefacing it with the hypothetical that Beltran was fully healthy, all star player for the last few years.
Joe said he wouldn’t trade Pagan for Beltran. And on top of that he wouldn’t trade Pagan for Carl Crawford.
Beningo’s show is one of the few that I flat out refuse to listen to on WFAN. At least when Francesa bashes the Mets I can chalk it up to his Yankee loyalty or the fact that he may not really watch the Mets every day. Beningo is excruciating.
Having said that, great comment by Ryan. Some Mets fans will never appreciate Carlos Beltran, and that’s pretty sad.
