The Angels’ Scott Kazmir trade has become their Scott Kazmir trade

Well, not totally. But man is Rev Halofan down on Kazmir and his team:

  1. Rev Halofan is 1000% wrong to simplify the DH situation between “They had a choice between Matsui and Vlad, and they took Matsui.”

No, Vlad and his agent were trying to get a multi-year deal from the Halos during the offseason. The Angels were only interested in a 1-year deal with him due to the health issues shown by Vlad during the ’09 season.

Once Vlad and his agent decided a 1-year deal with the Angels wasn’t what they wanted, they went elsewhere, getting the 1-year (not multi-year) deal from the Rangers.

I was under the impression that Matt knew better. Apparently not.

As for Scott Kazmir, he’s been a huge enigma this season, even moreso than Oliver Perez considering how awesome Kaz was down the stretch in ’09 for the Angels, then becoming shaky during the postseason. Perez hasn’t been passable since summer ’08.

In 2010, Kazmir’s been up and down, mostly down. They need to find a fix, fast.
