Goodnight, sweet prince

The Mets released Alex Cora today.

His option will not vest.

Instead of firing their manager, the Mets fired their manager-on-the-field.

Goodbye, Alex Cora. The Mets went 45-63 in games you started over the past two seasons, but we can only imagine how much worse they would have fared without your intangible contributions.

    • It is business though..as you pointed out.

Cora had no place on the future of this team, so why let that option vest?

Doing it with only 18 games left to go though is pretty poor, but only because it should have been done months ago, or better yet, coming into this season.

Just a small move today that at least gives us a glimmer of hope they’re thinking about the future….

      • I completely understand but imagine being in that situation whether you’re a baseball player or not, you know? it would be crushing.

        But yeah, good riddance.

  1. Wow, Ted really Alex Cora? With all that is wrong with the Mets, Omar and Manuel and all the non caring players can actually look themselves in the mirror and say I’m a good GM, Manager, and player, but we need to shake things up by firing the one guy with respect for the game and be vocal about us sucking. Ted, I’ve seen and heard it all from the Mets stand point. I’m truly amazed that it has come to this with this organization.

What really burns me is what Omar said in his stupid well, look guys speech to the reporters yesterday about him not being the GM in the future. Is Fred Wilpon even around to see what is happening to his team that was alot better off with him still in charge? It’s so weird because when Steve Phillips was GM, I never remember him being around reporters all the time, trying to weasel his way out of mistakes and defending himself all the time about his job.

I can’t stand to see Omar as the GM of the Mets. I’ve always felt this way even when they were winning. He doesn’t know how to Make trades to improve, he doesn’t know how to talk to reporters which really irratates me, he might be a good scout, but that is about it. He never shows concern for the team and definitely for the fans.
