  1. 2 base hits last night for Frenchy (absolute rockets btw), thats probably earned him at least 10 more 0-fers before anyone says anything negative.

Heck that may be enough to open up talks for an extention for Frenchy.

  2. Aside from Minor League experience in right field there is always the option of Pagan in right (seems more difficult at Citi) and Evans/Duda/Pascucci in left.

  3. Since MLEs are awesome:

Frenchy’s equivalent line at Buffalo 274/337/452
Frenchy’s equivalent line at Binghamton 303/369/506
Frenchy’s equivalent line at St Lucie 300/371/509

Sadly there is no ability to run equivalents for the NY-Penn league. Frenchy definitely would be able to help win games where it really matters.

  4. Or we can join in the new debate: “Should the Mets claim Manny Ramirez?”

No. Thanks for joining us on another edition of Simple Answers to Stupid Questions.

Sorry. Had to get that off my chest.

    • Ted can defend himself. But I’m not sure how pointing out that Francouer is a below replacement level RF constitutes “hate” or “bashing.” He’s not remarking on his personality or some intangibles (hustle and grit come to mind) to make his case. He’s simply pointing out that a team that markets itself as a “contender” is trying to survive with a below-replacement level RF. These are facts. And they are the types of facts that the Mets, and many Mets fans, have ignored for too long. Thus the need, much appreciated from my end, for Ted to point out this and similar problems on a regular basis.

    • Has it only been twice weekly?

Seriously though, it’s not hate at all. It’s that I’m a Mets fan, so I want to watch guys who are part of the future or guys who can help the team win. It is somewhere between hilarious and absurd that the Mets continue to dismiss the over 3000 at bats worth of evidence suggesting that Francoeur is not really a Major League regular and keep hoping for him to magically “get it going.”

      • I don’t know if you saw it, but Marty Noble is saying that Francoeur’s struggles can be traced to the team’s mishandling of his place in the line-up. Marty’s take is that you put him at 6 or 7 and leave him alone, he would have been fine.

Add it to the list of “The One Thing That A Team Can Do To Finally Harness the Awesome Power of Jeff Francoeur.”

      • Chris M – to be fair, I’m not necessarily expecting Marty to let little things like “facts” ruin his perfectly crapulent argument.

      • Fun with Jeff Francouer splits:
        Hitting 5th (67 ABs): .179/.219/.473
        Hitting 6th (89 ABs): .180/.262/.348
        Hitting 7th (161 ABs): .261/.309/.422
        Hitting 8th (55 ABs): .327/.377/.436

By my calculations, if he could bat 11th in the lineup, his OPS would be a whopping .929

  5. It is a testament to how backwards and oblivious the Mets organization is that we have to keep bashing this guy. It’s one thing to see this team lose every other night; it’s an entirely different thing to see them send out a lineup that suggests they’re doing their best to lose.

Francoeur hating isn’t just Francoeur hating. It’s Alex Cora hating, it’s Mike Jacobs hating, Gary Matthews Jr. hating, and Alex Cora hating. Going back, it’s Abraham Nunez hating…it’s not personal, it’s just a tsunami of aggravation at the seemingly incompetent way the Mets have gone about building their baseball team.
