I’ve avoided this issue so far because I don’t care to perpetuate it, there are people on the Internet who think I hate America, and I don’t want to appear a knee-jerk Carlos Beltran defender. Plus I’m honestly not sure how I feel about the whole thing. But I think Dave Singer makes a great point, plus I think he’s got pretty strong evidence that he does not, in fact, hate America.

Huh, I hadn’t actually heard any of the fuss about this. I guess I’ll consider that a victory for the cause of avoiding the MSM and their tendency to blow stupid s*** way out of proportion.
I just read something that this is the 4th year the Mets have done this visit, each year with more and more players going. Mentioning that last year like 15 players or so went, and I would assume that less the year before etc.
I personally would have liked to see these guys go, but why werent the 10 guys who didnt golast year chastized? Or the guys that didnt go the year before?
Or if Jeff FRancoeur had skipped the visit would he be getting killed by the media?
