And that happened

I spent a good portion of my drive home yesterday wondering if the current Jets could be the best team I’ve ever rooted for. I realized that I’ve never actually followed a championship team, since I was too young to recognize the gravity of 1986. The Mets won the NL Championship in 2000 and Georgetown made the Final Four in 2007, and that’s pretty much the closest any of my teams have come.

So I got to fantasizing about the Jets making the Super Bowl, and thinking about how awesome that would be and all that. I rushed home to catch the game, and then, well, then that happened.

Maybe I jinxed the Jets’ offense, or, way more likely, maybe they just had a bad game. More to follow when I talk with Brian Bassett later. For now, here’s sad Mark Sanchez:

  1. I was watching the Jet game yesterday and I was thinking that being the Defensive Coordinator of Jets must be the worst, most completely fruitless job ever.

I’m a Giants fan but I follow all of NY sports closely (except hockey, b/c well its boring). I watch at least part of most of the Jets games as well as the Giants each week and whiel watching last night I realized, I have no idea who the Jets defensive coordinator is. I thought hw ridiculous this was, someone like me who is fully emersed in the NY sports landscape in every way, I and not even remotely aware of who the 2nd highest ranking guy on the coaching staff of the Jets is.

Anything to do with the Jets defense is just automatically credited to Rex Ryan. “Rex dialed up the Blitz”, “Rex will look to pressure the QB”, “Great defensive gameplan by Rex” etc.

There is NEVER any mention of the D-Coordinator, who I only know actually exists because I looked him up a few minutes ago.

  2. I wouldnt worry Ted. I have a good feeling Chris Wright and Austin Freeman are going to lead our first national title of my lifetime. Georgetowns going to win without a big man this year.. its going to change the program forever.
