Cole Hamels starts tonight for the Phillies. This is what he looks like in a white suit, and also frolicking in bed with strange children, and also carrying his dog in a bag.

Hey look, it’s some stuff I wrote
Louis asked me to write the inaugural piece for the I Was There When series, so I did. Speaking of, I’ve got a chapter in Alex Belth’s forthcoming book about lasting Yankee Stadium memories which you should check out.
Nice player, nice hat, nice catch
I actually have that hat. I used to wear it with my most realistic fake mustache for shows with my old band — I thought it made for a great bass-player look. For some reason it really freaked out my girlfriend (now wife).
Best fast-food bacons
Bacon Today analyzes the best fast-food bacons. No surprises here — Wendy’s tops the list. If you’ll recall, in my teardown of Taco Bell’s bacon in April, I wrote: “Wendy’s is the only national fast-food chain that makes truly delicious bacon.”
Ask Bob Ojeda stuff
Bob Ojeda’s doing another third-inning live chat tonight. Check it out, and hey — maybe even ask him a question about pitching, or having been a professional baseball player, or the 1986 Mets, or his favorite foods, or anything at all besides what trades he thinks the Mets will/should make. Please, for the sake of the moderator’s sanity.
This date in Mets.com history
Chris McShane, one of the various Chrises knon to comment here, is doing an excellent job with his newish blog Metsimistic. This was a good idea — and check out the poll question.
The train that couldn’t slow down
Whoa. That thing looks awesome, and also super dangerous.
Hey look, it’s me saying stuff
I took part in a BlackBerry chat during yesterday’s Mets-Phillies game with some fellas from Amazin’ Avenue and The Good Phight. It’s a little bit hard to follow without the game going on, but check it out regadless.
Because you haven’t had enough of me spewing opinions about random things
I did a guest post at BronxBanterBlog.com for their Million Dollar Movie “guilty pleasure” series. Click the headline to check it out.
Facing Gooden and Straw
Awesome job by Mark Simon compiling a bunch of quotes from ex-players about what it was like to face Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry.
