So much genius in one take

Rainn Wilson, via Twitter, posted this list of the 20 greatest extended takes in movie history.

It made me think of the following clip from the Upright Citizen’s Brigade, which has got to be the greatest single take in sketch comedy history. It’s vaguely inappropriate and probably not for the easily-grossed-out, but it’s hilarious. Ian Roberts is awesome:

  1. Hilarious – is the younger brother the guy from Old School that works in Luke Wilson’s office with Artie Lange that says ‘Oh I play golf every Sunday.. But I HATE golf’? Looks just like him.

    • Yeah, that’s Matt Walsh. He’s also awesome, and he plays minor comedic roles in a ton of stuff. One time we both auditioned for the same commercial, and then I saw him in Ranch 1 afterward. First it made me feel cool, then depressed, because he’s so much cooler than me and neither of us got the part.

  2. Ted,

You are about the same age as me, do you remember The State? The sketch comedy show from MTV in the early 90’s. The UCB clip for some reaosn got me thinking about sketch comedy and reminded me of The State. No real point here other than it was an awesome show that not that many people seem to remember.

    • The State? I wanna dip my b–

Actually, in the interest of professionalism I should probably cut myself off. But yeah, the State definitely had its moments. The best mid-90s sketch comedy show in a landslide, though, was Mr. Show. I didn’t find out about it until college, after it was already off the air, but it’s mindblowing.

  3. wow, ted, this is a great find. thank you for sharing. that may sound sarcastic but let me be clear in saying that in no way is that clip anything but an earth shattering cataclysm of awesomeness.

ass pennies. that is all right.
